Dear Elish,
I am writing following the publication of your part 1 report yesterday.
I would like to thank you and your team for your work on this. The report makes for sobering reading. The lessons the report makes for the forces in which Couzens served, and indeed, wider policing, are vital.
Having only recently received the report, it is important that my officials and I consider the findings and recommendations for the Home Office in greater detail, with the aim of providing an update in due course.
I am grateful for your continued work on the Inquiry, which I know you are undertaking at pace. I would welcome any updates on progress with part 2 and part 3 in the coming weeks.
