Details of the application

Andrew Peter Dennis has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to renew and vary licence serial number 5/31/14/*S/0246 which expires on 31 March 2020. The current licence authorises the abstraction of water from the Five Downs Drain, Algakirk, Boston, Lincolnshire at National Grid Reference TF 30774 35697.

The current licence authorises the abstraction of water as follows:

  • 50 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,000 cubic metres a day
  • 45,460 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 December and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water is used for the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.

The variation applied for is to extend the abstraction period and increase abstraction quantities to the following:

  • 100 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,000 cubic metres a day
  • 67,500 cubic metres a year
  • All year.

There are no changes to the purpose or the location of the abstraction.

The flow cessation condition on the existing licence will remain on any new licence issued.
