Details

This inspection focused on Border Force’s approach to refusing passengers permission to enter and cancelling permission to enter and stay at the border (at airports, seaports, and juxtaposed controls), including:

  • examining the efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency of current practice
  • considering the Home Office’s assessment of the impact of the Authority to Carry Scheme 2023
  • reviewing the initial detention process in controlled waiting areas
  • considering the Home Office’s assessment of the impact of the Future Borders programme on Border Force staffs’ ability to identify individuals who should be refused
