This document provides an explanation of the purpose, coverage, construction, sources and limitations of the Alternative Claimant Count statistics.

  1. Updated the background information and methodology to support the latest release of Alternative Claimant Count statistics. These has been released today (13 October 2020).

  2. Updated the background information and methodology - it now includes information about 'working and claiming unemployment related benefits' in the definitions and terminology section. The latest release of Alternative Claimant Count statistics has been released today (16 July 2020).
