Allpress Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a drain within the Swaffham Internal Drainage Board (IDB) at Sedge Fen, Brandon at National Grid Reference TL 55076 67874.

Water will be abstracted for the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation, and transfer to a reservoir for the purpose of subsequent discharge and re-abstraction for spray irrigation from the following reaches within the Swaffham IDB, at the following National Grid References:

The volumes applied for are as follows:

For the purposes of filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation and transfer to a reservoir for the purpose of subsequent discharge and re-abstraction for spray irrigation:

  • 31.9 litres per second
  • 115 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,380 cubic metres a day
  • 41,000 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

For the purpose of spray irrigation (re-abstraction from the reaches within the Swaffham IDB):

  • 45.8 litres per second
  • 165 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,300 cubic metres a day
  • 37,273 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The aggregate quantity of water authorised to be abstracted under this licence shall not exceed 41,000 cubic metres per year.
