Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0039/017 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising Carboniferous Limestone within the boundary formed by straight lines running between National Grid References SK 09751 72255, SK 10226 72318, SK 10348 721175 and SK 09796 71977 at Topley Pike Quarry, Buxton, Derbyshire.

The variation applied for is to remove dust suppression from the borehole located at National Grid Reference SK 10130 72440, which is no longer operational and include dust suppression abstracted from the Sump using a bowser or pump.

The variation will not increase the abstraction volumes currently licenced.
