Details of the application

Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary existing transfer licence serial number TH/039/0006/009 which authorises abstraction of water from River terrace sand and gravel deposits at Kempsford Quarry, Gloucestershire for the purpose of transfer for dewatering.

The variations applied for are to add an additional discharge point into an unnamed drain at National Grid Reference SU 16983 97571 and to increase the authorised quantities to the following:

  • 375 cubic metres an hour
  • 9,000 cubic metres a day
  • 3,285,000 cubic metres a year

There will be no change to the current abstraction area under this proposal and the authorised abstraction period shall remain as all year.
