This report details the Age Estimation Science Advisory Committee’s (AESAC’s) activities since being formalised into a full committee in October 2022, until the committee’s closedown in July 2025.

It outlines:

  • the committee’s scope, structure and membership, since being established as a full committee in October 2022
  • the committee membership
  • the key elements which AESAC delivered, via commissioning and self-commissioning
  • AESAC’s work to help ensure that scientific age assessment is conducted in way that is both scientifically robust and ethically sound
  • steps to take forward, to ensure that scientific age assessment remains robust, following AESAC’s closedown
