Applies to England, Scotland and Wales

The following is to explain your rights and give you the information you are entitled to under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018.

The identity and contact details of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and our Data Protection Officer

DLUHC is the data controller. The Data Protection Officer can be contacted at dataprotection@levellingup.gov.uk

What personal information are we collecting and what will we do with it?

Your personal data is being collected to allow us to prioritise offers of housing support for new arrivals from Afghanistan. Where an offer meets the criteria DLUHC or the relevant local authority will use the contact details provided to follow up and discuss individual offers further.

We may also use these details to contact you for evaluation and process improvement purposes.

The data protection legislation sets out when we are lawfully allowed to process your data. The lawful basis under article 6(1)(e) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation that applies to this processing is that it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.

With whom we will be sharing the data

DLUHC will share when necessary this information with relevant local authorities and other government departments – such as the Home Office who are leading the support offer for refugees - who are participating in efforts to support arrivals from Afghanistan. This will allow us to better follow up on the offers provided and ensure we can establish safe and secure housing for vulnerable arrivals as soon as possible.

How we store your personal information

Our surveys are being hosted by Microsoft Forms, and your data will be stored on DLUHC IT systems with servers in the UK. We have taken all necessary precautions to ensure that your rights in terms of data protection will not be compromised by this.

For how long we will keep the personal data, or criteria used to determine the retention period?

Your personal data will be held for 6 months following its collation to allow us to follow up offers of support that do not meet initial requirements in case those requirements change. We may also contact you for evaluation and process improvement purposes, including offer outcomes.
