AECOM Infrastructure and Environment UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from well points into the localised sands and gravels at Shell Staxton, Old Malton Rd, Staxton, Scarborough YO12 4SB at National Grid Reference TA 02266 79350
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 20 cubic metres an hour
- 480 cubic metres a day
- 175,200 cubic metres a year
Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water will be used for remediation of contaminated sands and gravels at the former petrol station. Contaminated water will be removed from the localised sands and gravels, cleaned up, and returned into the same sands and gravels.
