Promotion of a medicinal product by Medex Pharmaceuticals Ltd – July 2026
Published 5 August 2026
Medex Pharmaceuticals Ltd t/a Medex Pharmaceuticals has amended its advertising to Persons Qualified to Prescribe or Supply (PQPS) following MHRA action on a complaint. A healthcare professional expressed concern about an email promoting triamcinolone acetonide (Kenalog) in a way that was not consistent with the product indication as outlined in the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC). The email may also not have contained the required prescribing information to support safe use of the product.
Regulation 280 of the Human Medicines Regulations outlines the Quality Standards for all advertisements for a medicinal product, which must: be consistent with the SPC; support rational use; and not mislead.
Medex Pharmaceuticals Ltd acknowledged the error, which they explained had occurred in isolation. They confirmed that the email campaign had been stopped and that they were implementing corrective action including training and a review of internal procedures to ensure compliance with the Regulations going forward.
