Access to Work MHSS provider guidance for contracts effective on or after 20 August 2024

  1. Published revised versions of Annex A, Annex C, Annex D and Annex E, each now updated to Version 3 (August 2026). The web page version of Annex F (Access to Work MHSS Specified Standard) has also been updated.

  2. Chapters 1 to 9 have been removed and consolidated into 'Access to Work Mental Health Support Service Provider guidance', which contains the latest guidance for DWP providers of the Access to Work MHSS programme for contracts effective on or after 20 August 2024.

  3. The Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) instructions in Chapter 4 have been updated to reflect the current processes for providers.

  4. Textphone details removed and Relay UK details added to 'Chapter 4: Customer Journey Referral, Start, Support Period and Leaver Process'.

  5. In Chapter 4: Customer Journey Referral, Start, Support Period and Leaver Process, deleted paragraph 4.55 about clerical payments will be made for Sensitive Customer Referral Outcome Payments.

  6. Updated Chapter 4: Customer Journey Referral, Start, Support Period and Leaver Process. The guidance about Special Customer Records (SCR) has been removed and guidance on Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) referrals has been updated (paragraphs 4.49 to 4.51). Replaced: Annex A: Access to Work MHSS Supplier Generated Candidate Form; Annex C: Access to Work MHSS Support Plan; Annex D: Access to Work MHSS 6 Month Report; Annex E: Access to Work MHSS Exit Report; Annex F: Access to Work MHSS Specified Standard; Annex H: Access to Work MHSS Standard Wording.

  7. Updated the actions in paragraph 4.55 of Chapter 4 "Customer journey referral, start, support period and leaver process" to remove references to the MAPPAJ form that is no longer in use.

  8. Updated Chapter 7: Performance Management, Compliance and Management Information (MI). Added paragraph 7.17 and updated paragraphs 7.25 and 7.29.

  9. Updated chapter 4 para 4.41 to remove reference to missing a scheduled support meeting.

  10. Updated Annex E. Updated chapter 4 and 7 to remove reference to a consent form that is no longer in use.

  11. Published an HTML version of the guidance.
