We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
In the last 5 years
a) How many appeals have been made by police officers to the secretary of state against a refusal by a Police Authority to agree to a business interest of a police officer?
b) How many of those appeals have resulted in the appeal being successful?
We released the following information on 01 October 2010.
The Secretary of State has received twelve business interest appeals in the last five years. Of those, two have been successful, four the authority’s decision was upheld, five had the appeal discontinued at the request of either the officer or the authority and one is under consideration.
