Dr Phillip Lee
Biography
Dr Phillip Lee was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice in July 2016. He was elected the Member of Parliament for Bracknell in May 2010.
Education
Phillip was educated at his local state grammar school, Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School. He then went on to study Human Biology and Biological Anthropology at King’s College London and Keble College, Oxford, where his research interests included the psychodynamics of anti-Semitism, the psychology of the child sex offender, the influence of the pre-natal environment on adult disease and infertility clinic outcomes. He went on to study medicine at Imperial College London and qualified as a doctor in 1999.
Political career
Phillip has served as Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Space Committee for six years and was a member of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee for the duration of the previous Parliament. He has also served on the Medical Panel of the Parliamentary Estate and the Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology.
Career outside politics
After medical school, Phillip worked as a junior hospital doctor at a number of hospitals, including Heatherwood & Wexham Park, Stoke Mandeville and St Mary’s, Paddington. He then worked as a General Practitioner for over a decade in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, and continues to practice part time as a GP in the area.
