Greg Quinn

Biography

Greg Quinn took up his position as Acting British Consul General Calgary in April 2023 having previously served as the Acting British Consul General Toronto. Prior to that he was Deputy Head of the Caribbean and SIDS Department at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London.

Greg joined the then Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1995 and has also served in Tallinn, Accra, Minsk, Basra, Baghdad, Washington, Astana, and as the British High Commissioner to Guyana and Non-Resident Ambassador to Suriname. In London he has worked as an Historian, on the Baltic States Desk, and as Head of the United Nations Political Team.

Greg is a graduate in International Politics and International History from Aberystwyth University. He also holds a Masters in History from the Open University and an Honorary Doctorate in Law from Queen’s University Belfast. Greg was awarded an OBE for services to British foreign policy in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
