Catherine Vaughan is the Director General and Chief Operating Officer for the Department for International Trade (DIT). Immediately prior to joining DIT she was the Director of Finance and Business Services at HM Land Registry.
She is a member of the Government Finance Profession Leadership Group and co-chairs its People Committee.
Catherine studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University.
She is a Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) qualified accountant who originally trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). She has spent most of her career in local government.
Catherine’s local government roles include:
- Director of Finance and Resources for Brighton and Hove City Council
- Chief Finance Officer for the South Downs National Park Authority
She has also been Non-Executive Director on the Board of England Netball.
Director General and Chief Operating Officer
The Director General (DG) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Department for International Trade (DIT) oversees the finance, analysis, digital and technology, human resources and commercial functions. The COO is member of the Departmental Board and Executive Committee and chairs the Performance, Finance and Risk Committee and the Projects and Change Committee.
