OPSS External Reviewer
As the UK’s product regulator, OPSS is committed to carrying out its regulatory activities in a fair, proportionate and professional manner, supporting business to comply and grow. We are accountable to those that we regulate, particularly when any concerns are raised about our approach and the conduct of our officers.
Businesses need to feel confident that they can challenge or ask for an explanation of OPSS decision making or advice. If a business considers that OPSS’ approach or actions result in disproportionate costs or undesirable outcomes, we have an established process to raise such concerns.
OPSS has appointed an ‘External Reviewer’ to provide advice on how we can improve our processes.
The External Reviewer’s role is:
To challenge whether:
- OPSS procedures are fair and accessible
- OPSS procedures can be improved
- OPSS is following its processes and procedures
To report:
- findings and make recommendations to OPSS
To support :
- wider improvements in OPSS accountability activities
- the handling by OPSS of vexatious complaints
