From 21 to 26 May, the British Embassy Ashgabat organised a historic first visit to Turkmenistan by the management team of the internationally renowned British architecture and design company, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA).

Zaha Hadid Architects participated in the White City Ashgabat 2026 conference.

The landmark visit reflects the growing partnership between the United Kingdom and Turkmenistan in architecture, urban development, construction, and the creative industries.

ZHA Director Manuela Gatto and senior associate Sattor Jabbor gave lectures at the Institute of Architecture and Construction.

During their visit , ZHA Director Manuela Gatto and senior associate Sattor Jabbor held a series of productive meetings with senior Turkmen Government officials. These included representatives of local and international construction companies, and academic institutions. Discussions focused on opportunities for co-operation in modern architecture, sustainable urban development, innovative design solutions and knowledge exchange.

The delegation also participated in the White City Ashgabat 2026 Conference, where they contributed ZHA’s internationally recognised expertise and perspectives on the future of city planning, sustainable architecture, and modern urban development.

The visit provided an important platform for dialogue and exchange of expertise between British and Turkmen stakeholders. It is expected to give new impetus to bilateral co-operation and strengthen professional links between the 2 countries.
