The Foreign Secretary met senior representatives of Japanese industry and UK business in Tokyo
Over lunch at the Ambassador’s Residence, Mr Hague referred to the messages of the keynote speech he had delivered the previous day, stressing the important role that Japan played in the UK’s economy. He was told of the opportunities and the challenges which businesses faced, in Japan and in the UK. He reassured Japanese business of a continued warm welcome in the UK, and his government’s will to create an even better environment for investment there. He also commented on the huge potential benefits and increased trade flows for both UK and Japanese businesses which could be created through the removal of remaining barriers to trade.
