White Helmets Canadian programme shortened
Planned screenings and discussions in Winnipeg and Vancouver have been cancelled.
Given the deteriorating situation in Aleppo over the past 48 hours, our panellists, Raed Saleh & Farouq Habib from Syrian Civil Defence (the White Helmets), have made the understandable decision to return to the region to offer support to their colleagues on the ground. They will leave Canada following Friday evening’s discussion in Toronto.
This means planned screenings and discussions with the White Helmets in Winnipeg and Vancouver have been cancelled.
During their few days in Canada the White Helmets have been able to share their inspirational story with hundreds of Canadians during events in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and thousands more through numerous media interviews. They have also been commended for their bravery and heroism during meetings with civil and government leaders.
The UK and Canadian governments will continue to work together with the international community to seek an end to the tragic conflict in Syria.
