Secretary for State for Wales Cheryl Gillan today welcomed a marginal increase in the employment rate in Wales, combined with a decrease in the Welsh economic inactivity rate.
The latest Labour Market Statistics published today show an increase in Wales’ employment rate to 67.1%. Meanwhile, the economic inactivity rate in Wales fell by 0.3% on the last quarter to 26.3%.
Mrs Gillan said: “While these figures on employment and economic inactivity rates in Wales are welcome they reinforce the need for constant vigilance and co-ordinated action across Governments to make sure we maximise opportunities to maintain and create employment in Wales.”
