Welsh Secretary Cheryl Gillan said:
“This evening’s Gala Benefit Concert, in aid of the Swansea Miners Appeal, is a true demonstration of the scale of support for the families and friends of Charles, Garry, Philip and David who so tragically lost their lives. The response to the Miners Appeal has been heart-warming and I know that the Concert today will give people a further opportunity to show their support for the families who have lost their loved ones and their livelihoods.”
“I would like to pay tribute to the efforts of the emergency services, the local community and the organisations who provided support to all concerned during those very difficult days last month. I do hope that the Benefit Concert helps to demonstrate the unwavering support for the families and friends, not just from Wales but across the whole of the UK”
