Secretary of State for Wales David Jones has praised the dedication of staff at Dyfed Powys Police as they continue their efforts to find abducted schoolgirl, April Jones.

Mr Jones yesterday (11 October) spoke to Jackie Roberts, Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys, to thank her and her team of officers for their dedication, and to recognise the professionalism they have shown since April disappeared from outside her home on 1 October 2012.

Mr Jones said: “I wanted to take the opportunity to extend my personal thanks to each and every member of the Dyfed Powys Police team who have shown tireless dedication and professionalism throughout this difficult case.”

“These tragic events have affected the entire country and have catapulted this small, quiet Welsh community into the national media spotlight. Dyfed Powys Police have continued to demonstrate their unyielding commitment to the case, and the support that they have provided to the local community, to the large number of volunteers and, most importantly, to April’s family, have not gone unnoticed.”
