Secretary of State for Wales Cheryl Gillan had paid tribute to former Welsh Liberal Democrat leader and peer Richard Livsey, who has died.
Mrs Gillan said: “Lord Livsey made an invaluable contribution to political life in Wales in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. He will be remembered in high regard across Wales and beyond.
“He was hugely respected across the political spectrum, and particularly by the people of Brecon and Radnorshire who he served as MP for 11 years. Welsh politics has lost a gentleman and a true champion of countryside democracy. My thoughts are with his family.”
