Welsh Secretary hails ‘outstanding individuals’ in Queen’s Birthday Honours list

Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb congratulated the Welsh recipients of the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2015.

Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb has today (Saturday 13 June) congratulated the Welsh recipients of the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2015.

57 Welsh recipients received awards with one receiving a CBE, eight gaining OBEs, 21 gaining MBEs and 25 receiving BEMs (British Empire Medals).

There is a Knighthood for Welsh rugby legend, Gareth Edwards for services to sport and good causes, and Welsh composer Dr. Karl Jenkins.

Among the other well-known Welsh names being honoured are actor and singer, Michael Ball. Former Welsh rugby player Jonathan Davies is also recognised for his services to Velindre Cancer Centre.

These honours recognise the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom, in a wide range of professions, industries and communities.

I’m delighted to see so many people from all walks of Welsh life honoured today. We can all take pride in their many and varied accomplishments. They are all outstanding individuals – people who are making a change in their communities, and inspiring others. Congratulations to you all.
