Weekly summary of planned road works in the West Midlands for Monday 23 February to Sunday 1 March 2015
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 20 February 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A38 Swinfen to Wall Island
The carriageway will be closed from Monday 23 February to 25 February between 8.30pm and 5am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
A45 Oxford Road Junction to M45 Junction 1, West Midlands: Carriageway works
The carriageway will be closed in both directions from 23 February to 28 February between 10pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A45 Exit Slip to M42 Jct 6, West Midlands: Carriageway works
The westbound exit slip will be closed from 26 February to 4 March between 10pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A5 Churchbridge Roundabout: Carriageway works
The roundabout, eastbound will be closed from 23 February to 6 March between 9.30pm and 5.30am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A5 Preston Boats Island, Shropshire: Carriageway works
The east and westbound carriageway will be closed from 23 February to 6 March between 10pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A5 Emstrey Island, Shropshire: Carriageway works
The east and westbound carriageway will be closed from 16 February to 6 March between 7.30pm and 7am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A5 Preston to Emstrey, Shropshire: Carriageway works
The east and westbound carriageway will be closed from 23 February to 28 February between 7pm and 8am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A50 Meir Junction Slip Road: Carriageway works
The east and westbound slip road will be closed from 26 February to 28 February between 9pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A50 Meir Tunnel: Carriageway works
The east and westbound carriageway will be closed from 1 March to 7 March between 8pm and 5.30am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A500 – M6 Jct 16/A500 Roundabout, Stoke: Carriageway works
The B5078 carriageway will be closed from 23 February 28 February between 8pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.

M5 Junction 7 to 8, West Midlands: Carriageway works
The southbound carriageway will be closed from 28 February to 24 March between 9pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
M50 Junction 1, Tewkesbury, Worcestershire: Carriageway works
There will be a full 24-hour closure on the westbound entry slip from 23 February to 21 March. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
M50 Junction 2 to 4, Tewkesbury, Worcestershire: Carriageway works
The east and westbound carriageway will be closed from 23 February to 27 February. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
M54 Junction 5 Telford – Junction 3 Albrighton, Telford and Wrekin: Carriageway works
The carriageway will be closed westbound between 10pm and 6am on Monday 23 February, Wednesday 25 February, Thursday 26 February and Friday 27 February. The eastbound carriage will be closed on Tuesday 24 February only, between 10pm and 6am. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted
Saturday 21 February – Hardshoulder and lane 1 closures eastbound and westbound. Overnight westbound carriageway closure. Diversions in place. Sunday 22 February - Hardshoulder and lane 1 closures eastbound and westbound. Overnight westbound carriageway closure. Diversions in place. Monday 23 February to Friday 27 February – During peak times – hard shoulder closures westbound. Offpeak there will be hard shoulder and lane 1 closures eastbound.
M6 Junction 6 Gravelly Hill Interchange, West Midlands: Carriageway works
There will be a full 24-hour closure of the eastbound link road from 23 February to 30 May. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
M6 Junction 9, Wednesbury, West Midlands: Carriageway works
The southbound entry slip will be closed for 24 hours from 23 February to 30 July. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
M6 Junction 7 to 10, West Midlands: Carriageway works
The northbound carriageway including like from M5 north will be closed from 23 February to 30 March between 9pm and 6am. A diversion route will be clearly signposted
M6 Junction 5, West Midlands: Carriageway works
The southbound entry slip will be closed for 24 hours from 23 February to 30 March. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.
A45/A46 Tollbar End major project, Coventry
Generally, over the period of the scheme, temporary speed limits will be in place monitored by average-speed cameras. There is now a 40mph limit on the A45 Stonebridge Highway, A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass, A45 London Road and Tollbar Roundabout. Drivers are advised to follow any diversions and not to use their Satellite Navigation Systems.
Planned traffic management for the week from Saturday 21 February (All lane and road closures during off-peak hours, 9:30am to 3.30pm and 8pm to 6am).
- Saturday 21 February – A45 (Stonebridge) eastbound lane closure between 8am and 4pm.
- Sunday 22 February – No additional requirements.
- Monday 23 February – Day: A45 (Stonebridge) westbound lane closure; A45 (Stonebridge) eastbound lane closure; Rowley Road lane closure. Night: A45 (Stonebridge) westbound lane closure; A45 eastbound (Stonebridge) lane closure
- Tuesday 24 to Friday 27 February – Day: A45 (Stonebridge) westbound lane closure; A45 (Stonebridge) eastbound lane closure. Night: A45 (Stonebridge) westbound lane closure; A45 eastbound (Stonebridge) lane closure.
June 2014 to December 2015
- Lane 4 closure on the A45 westbound.
- Narrow lanes will be in place on A45 Stonebridge Highway, westbound (Tollbar to Stivichall).
- Traffic management will be in place on Tollbar roundabout.
- Stonehouse Lane access to A45 Stonebridge Highway will be closed.
- Lane 1 closure will be in place on A45 London Road, eastbound.
- Narrow lanes will be in place on A46 Coventry eastern bypass, northbound.
- Various lane closures around Tollbar End roundabout.
September 2014 to December 2015
- Rowley Road will have various lane closures.
- Siskin Drive will have various lane closures.
- London Road B4110 will have various lane closures.
