Wales Office Minister, David Jones said:
“I would like to pay tribute to the members of the emergency services, and in particular to the volunteers of the RNLI lifeboats from Llandudno and Rhyl, who worked tirelessly - in very difficult conditions - to rescue those on board the ship last night.
“However, this is an active, ongoing salvage operation requiring the continued joint efforts of all those services involved. I am aware that a team from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been deployed to the scene to begin a full investigation.
“I am receiving regular updates from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and we are closely monitoring the situation at Llanddulas as it develops.”
