Wales Office Minister congratulates Team Wales as Commonwealth Games close

Baroness Randerson will today (2 August 2014) travel to Glasgow to attend the boxing finals along with members of Team Wales before attending the closing ceremony of the Games on Sunday (3 August 2014).
Baroness Randerson said:
I am delighted to be in Glasgow for the closing ceremony of a very successful Games and to have the opportunity to meet athletes from Team Wales to congratulate them personally.
For a small nation Wales consistently punches above its weight in the sporting arena. I have to congratulate all of Team Wales for their efforts during the Games and as importantly in their preparation for the Games. Their commitment and dedication has been rewarded by Team Wales not only reaching, but exceeding, their medal target.
I am sure that Team Wales success will inspire Wales as a nation, especially our young people, to be more involved in sport and inspire some to represent Wales at future Games.
