Villiers attends 25th anniversary Enniskillen Poppy Day Bomb remembrance service

Today the Secretary of State, Theresa Villiers attended the 25th Anniversary of the Enniskillen Poppy Day Bomb remembrance service at the Enniskillen Cenotaph.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Secretary of State said: “I wish today to show my solidarity and support and that of the Government to the people of Enniskillen and the wider community on the sad occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Poppy Day Bomb. Despite the lapse of time for many the wounds of the past are still as raw and the memories as vivid of that awful day and the terrible atrocity that occurred.

“I had the privilege of meeting many of the families and friends of the twelve victims killed and I was very struck by their quiet dignity and stoicism in the face of such tragedy. I applaud them for their resilience. As we approach Remembrance Sunday we must ensure that they are never forgotten.”

“This has been a sad week for Northern Ireland and my thoughts and prayers are with all victims of terrorism, and their families, today.”
