UK Minister for Europe visits Tirana
Minister for Europe David Lidington is in Tirana today to discuss the political situation, EU reform agenda, and UK rule of law priorities with members of the Albanian Government.

This is Minister for Europe’s first visit to Albania since becoming Minister in May 2010. He will meet the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Leader of the Opposition to discuss the political situation, EU reform agenda, and UK rule of law priorities. He will also have a short meeting with the Prosecutor General.
En route to Tirana, he said:
“This is an important moment for Albania. The UK firmly supports Albania’s desire to join the EU. However, for further progress to be made, it is vital that Albanian politicians and institutions demonstrate their democratic maturity and European credentials. I look forward to discussing this agenda with Albanian partners in Tirana.”
