UK Ambassador meets with President of Guatemala’s Congress

British Ambassador to Guatemala, Juliana Correa, met with the President of Congress, Nery Ramos, to discuss governance, transparency, and potential areas for parliamentary cooperation.

During the meeting, Ambassador Correa acknowledged President Ramos’s role in fostering legislative consensus and advancing key reforms, including the Competition Law and the Road and Infrastructure Law.  

The conversation addressed institutional challenges facing the country and highlighted Congress’ commitment to embrace open, inclusive and transparent discussions on decisions that will shape the future of Guatemala’s governance and stability. 

The Ambassador also expressed the UK’s interest in strengthening parliamentary ties with Guatemala, and supporting Congress’ capabilities to promote civic engagement, particularly among youth, and reinforce shared democratic values.
