Turks and Caicos: post-cabinet meeting statement 3 July 2019

His Excellency the Governor, Dr John Freeman, chaired the 17th meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 3 July 2019 at the Hilly Ewing Building on Providenciales.

All ministers were present with the exception of HE the Deputy Governor, the Hon. Premier and the Hon. Minister for Education.

At this meeting Cabinet:

  • approved the use of a specific application form to practice as a land surveyor and process going forward before an applications can be considered by the Survey and Mapping Department
  • approved a development proposal on Grand Turk for Grand Lucayan Resorts Ltd. for the purpose of entering into a Development Agreement with TCIG
  • approved a request to wave warehouse rents for goods deposited in the Government Transit sheds and Queens Warehouse from 7 June to 5 July 2019. Cabinet also requested a review of fees and processes by end August 2019 before further applications can be considered
  • approved the variation to contract (TR17/34) Rehabilitation of Ro/Ro Ramp, South Dock, Grand Turk
  • approved the appointment of Mr Ivy Williams, Mr Dimple Duncanson, Mrs Deloris Wilson, Mr Henry Handfield, Mr Sherlock Forbes, District Commissioner South Caicos, Supervisor Public Works, Police Office in Charge of South Caicos, Environmental Health Officer in Charge as members and Secretary / Clerical Officer to DC South Caicos of the South Caicos District Board for 2019/20
  • approved the appointment of Mr Gary Lightbourne (Chair), Mrs Antonette Talbot, Mr Holton Dickenson, Mrs Debbie Been, Mrs Gladys Kennedy, District Commissioner Salt Cay, Supervisor Public Works, Police Office in Charge of Salt Cay, Environmental Health Officer in Charge as members and Secretary / Clerical Officer to DC Salt Cay of the Salt Cay District Board for 2019/20
  • approved the appointment of Pastor Mary (Iona) Harvey (Chair), Cardinal Arthur, Mr Garnett Outten, Mr Ashwood Hall, Mr Evan Williams, District Commissioner Middle Caicos, Supervisor Public Works, Police Office in Charge of Middle Caicos, Environmental Health Officer in Charge as members and Secretary / Clerical Officer to DC Middle Caicos of the Middle Caicos District Board for 2019/20
  • approved the appointment of Mr Andre Rupert Gibson (Chair), Mr Franklyn Robinson, Mr Wilbert Forbes, Mr Alpheus Gardiner, Mr Timothy Palmer, Mr Durrell Landy, District Commissioner North Caicos, Supervisor Public Works, Police Office in Charge of North Caicos, Environmental Health Officer in Charge as members and Secretary / Clerical Officer to DC North Caicos of the North Caicos District Board for 2019/20
  • approved the appointment of Mr Walter Cox (Chair), Mr Jamy Edward Williams, Mr Quinton Higgs, Mr Edith Skippings, Pastor Wesley Missick, Mrs Sylvia Grant and Mr Eric Green as members of the Providenciales District Board for 2019/20
  • approved for the Director of Planning to appoint any officer holding the post of Development Control Engineer, Assistant Development Control Engineer, Development Control Officer, Land use Planner and Planning Technician to be appointed as building inspectors for the purpose of section 83 of the Physical Planning Ordinance
  • approved the appointment of Mr Vernon Alco Williams (Vice President), Mrs Irene Glinton, Mrs Maria Clare and Mrs Judy Misick as members of the Labour Tribunal. Mr Samuel Williams, Mrs Beatrice Fulford, Mr Edward Hall, Mr Michael Pereira and Mrs Noreane McKoy appointed as representatives of employees on the Labour Tribunal
  • approved the appointment of Mrs Sharlene Gardiner as a member of the Gaming Commission for a period of three years
  • approved the appointment of Mr Bennett Stubbs and Mr Audley Gibbs as members of the Audit Committee, and the appointment of the current Chairman, Mr Nigel Hearnden, to be extended to 31 March 2020
  • approved the extension of the appointment of the Interim CEO, NHIB, Dr Tereese Maintland for three months, commencing on 1 July 2019
  • approved the appointment of Ms Cynara John as Head of Secretariat in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Public Utilities and Transportation to serve as Secretary to Radio Turks and Caicos Board of Governors during the period 12 June to 31 March 2020
  • approved an agreement for the Electronic Exchange of Customs Data between Postal Operators, Postal Services Department
  • approved the release of extracts from the Castalia Report on Rate and Regulatory Reform to FortisTCI
