The British High Commission is seeking bids to its Human Rights and Democracy Programme in Nigeria. Further details are contained within the attached documentation but in summary we are interested in bids that are able to demonstrate they will have the greatest possible impact on the core priority areas we highlight below.

We are seeking project proposals covering the following thematic areas:

  • global torture prevention
  • abolition of the death penalty
  • promotion and protection of freedom of expression
  • upholding freedom of religion and belief
  • women’s rights
  • business and human rights
  • strengthening democratic processes
  • preventing sexual violence

Interested organisations should kindly forward concept notes (form attached), with likely costs of the project not exceeding £200,000 for consideration on or by Friday, 28 Feb 2014. Concepts should be clear, concise and convincing. If we are interested in considering your proposal further, we will ask you to submit a full bid.

The attached documents give further details on the thematic areas we would like to focus on this year and should be used to guide your project proposals. Please note that projects will need to start June 2014 and be concluded by the end of February 2015.
