The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines are joining the Royal Australian Navy’s International Fleet Review celebrations with a one night only performance at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on 9 October; a concert in support of Australian military charity Mates4Mates.

Famed for their performances at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and around the world, the Royal Marines Band will showcase their acclaimed musical versatility and precision marching, performing military classics to jazz and big band favourites, music from the big screen and superb solo items.

Speaking about the Australian tour, Director of Music for the Royal Marines School of Music, Major Jase Burcham RM said:

A Royal Marines Band has not performed in Australia in a very long time so we are thrilled to be bringing a number of musical ensembles to Sydney.

Our musicians are looking forward to performing at the Capitol Theatre and working with members of the Royal Australian Navy Band throughout the centenary celebrations. Most of us join the Royal Marines Band Service for the opportunity to play music and travel the world. This visit to Sydney certainly achieves those aims!

British High Commissioner to Australia, His Excellency Paul Madden said:

We are delighted to see one of the world’s finest military bands performing in Australia. I am sure Australian audiences are going to enjoy the famous traditional marches and overtures that have proved such a hit over the years.

The 90 minute concert featuring 40 musicians will showcase the skill of the Royal Marines acquired through years of training in both the classroom and on the parade square.

Supported by British Airways, the Royal Marines Band are in Australia as part of the International Fleet Review. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to Mates4Mates.
