Statement from Secretary of State for Wales

Alun Cairns talks about priorities on being re-appointed as Secretary of State for Wales

Secretary of State for Wales and Wales Office Director, Glynne Jones

Alun Cairns said:

I am thrilled to be staying at the Wales Office as Secretary of State - the UK Government presence in Wales has never been more important and I will continue to be a strong voice for our country in the new Cabinet.

We have a big package of measures to deliver including the Wales Bill, ensuring Welsh companies have the help they need to prosper ahead of leaving the European Union and keeping our jobs market buoyant.

The success of our Welsh Football team was a real shot in the arm which made us proud to be Welsh. I want to bottle that feeling and make us a country excited about our talented entrepreneurs, our skilled workforce and the quality goods we export across the world.
