The sporting event organized by the British Embassy raised funds for the patients of the Children's Hospital of Lima.
On February 28, the race/walk “Sport Relief- Corriendo por los Niños” took place on the perimeter of Pentagonito in San Borja, organized by the British Embassy in cooperation with the Municipality of San Borja, the British Peruvian Chamber of Commerce and the Volunteers of the Children’s Hospital of Lima.
More than 300 people ran either 1 mile or 5 kilometres and collaborated with raffles, which awarded attractive prizes like all expenses paid trips to various destinations within Peru, toys, perfumes, hotel stays among others.
This event, part of the British charity Sport Relief, was possible thanks to the sponsorship of Nuevo Mundo Viajes, Scotiabank and Industrias San Miguel. Proceeds -around $ 5,500- will be invested in improving facilities for the Children’s Hospital.
British Ambassador Anwar Choudhury gave a welcome speech to participants before the run, and the Mayor of San Borja, Mr. Marco Alvarez, also attended. Oscar Matta, member of the Security staff of the Embassy won 2nd prize in the 5K race. Congratulations Oscar! We are proud of your achievement!
