UK Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said:

“I want to congratulate the South Korean Government and the National Assembly on passing this landmark legislation on emissions trading. The UK strongly supports the use of carbon markets to drive forward low-cost carbon abatement and to promote ambitious emission reduction targets.

This is an important step in South Korea’s green growth development and sets an example for countries to follow in implementing their own national policies to tackle global climate change. I look forward to continuing the UK’s close cooperation with Korea on the ETS and green growth as they work to build a sustainable low carbon global economy.”
