Welsh Secretary Cheryl Gillan has today [27th October 2011] welcomed plans to hold a full day’s debate on Thursday 3rd November, on the floor of the House of Commons on the Silk Commission.
Mrs Gillan said: “This is a positive step in Wales’ constitutional and financial history. We have met our Coalition agreement commitment to establish a commission to examine future funding and devolution for Wales. This debate will allow MPs to express their views on how the Welsh Government could become more accountable, following the Welsh Assembly’s new legislative powers and how future devolution architecture may develop. I welcome this opportunity to hear from MPs from all side of the house.”
