Sellafield Ltd is once again raising the bar with its highest ever recruitment of apprentices, with the target of attracting 300 apprentices this year across a diverse range of career pathways.

The latest recruitment campaign will take our investment in the next generation to 2,200 apprentices over the past decade.

Over this week, National Apprenticeship Week 2023, we’ll celebrate the achievements of our apprentices.

This year’s theme is ‘Skills for Life’, and that’s what we provide through our apprenticeship schemes to help the next generation develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.

Donna Connor, head of education and skills said:

Providing apprenticeships and routes into apprenticeships are an important part of our strategic ambitions to create opportunities for employment and economic growth.

We’re developing a broad spectrum of skills and capabilities and maintain and develop specialist and scarce skills, such as project managers and cyber security experts.

Sellafield Ltd’s project management apprenticeship programme has just celebrated its 10th year, creating 59 project management professionals with 57 more on the scheme.

Sellafield Ltd is also one of the top 100 large apprentice employers in the UK according to the Department for Education in 2022.

Meanwhile, last week, 14 graduates and apprentices from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group, that included Sellafield Ltd, attended the Nuclear Skills and Apprenticeships Fair in the House of Commons in London showcasing the wide range of talent and opportunities on offer to parliamentarians and business.

During National Apprentice Week, we’ll provide updates on just a few of our apprentices, highlighting what their apprenticeships mean to them.

The NDA is also hosting an event on the 7th February where attendees will hear from apprentices across the NDA Group.

Donna added:

We recognise the hard work of our training teams, training providers, End Point Assessment Organisations and apprentices all of whom contribute to the success of our business.

Copeland MP Trudy Harrison said:

Sellafield Ltd continues to break records on its amazing recruitment, training and development of its young people that is a real boost for the future of the nuclear industry in the area.

I’ve met a number of Sellafield Ltd apprentices over the past few years and I’m always impressed by their enthusiasm, and opportunities that the wide range of disciplines offer.

Sellafield Ltd Apprenticeships and Degree Apprenticeships 2023 are open to all applicants until Sunday 12 February.
