Secretary of State for Wales Cheryl Gillan today paid tribute to Lord Walker of Worcester who died this morning.   

Mrs Gillan said: “I’d like to send my condolences to the family of Lord Walker who died this morning, aged 78.  He was a distinguished member of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.  As Secretary of State for Wales between 1987 and 1990 Lord Walker worked tirelessly for Wales and was a true friend to the Welsh people.”
