Resurfacing work at 4 A66 locations
A short programme of resurfacing work to iron out potholes and other wear and tear along sections of the A66 near Penrith is taking place next month.
Highways England is spending £357,000 on the overnight repairs which will take place for a week at Kemplay roundabout and along the westbound carriageway between the roundabout and Carleton Hall from Thursday (1 September). This will be followed by a week of repairs along the westbound Temple Sowerby bypass and then, in mid-September, repairs between Low Moor and Kirkby Thore – again for a week.
Highways England project manager Peter Gee said:
These are routine wear and tear repairs to ensure drivers can continue to enjoy safe and smooth journeys along this section of the A66.
We’re carrying out all the work overnight when the route is at its quietest to minimise inconvenience to road users.
Traffic will be controlled using a mixture of lane closures and temporary traffic signals, with closures of junctions at Morland Road and Cliburn Road required for short durations. Signed diversions will be in place during these.
