Reappointments to the Board of NS&I
HM Treasury has announced the reappointments of Christopher Fisher and Sharmila Nebhrajani OBE as Non-Executive Directors of the Board of NS&I
HM Treasury announce that Christopher Fisher and Sharmila Nebhrajani OBE have been reappointed as Non-Executive Directors of the Board of NS&I (National Savings & Investments), as of 29 February 2020. Christopher’s reappointment will be for a term of 18 months and Sharmila’s reappointment for a term of 3 years.
Non-Executive members of NS&I’s Board ensure a sound strategy is in place to meet the organisation’s remit of raising cost-effective debt financing for the government. They also act as an external source of advice, have oversight of risk control and ensure NS&I’s links with its outsourcing partner, Atos, remain open and transparent.
NS&I is one of the largest savings organisations in the UK, offering a range of savings and investments. All products offer 100% capital security because NS&I is backed by HM Treasury.
Christopher and Sharmila were appointed as Non-Executive Directors in March 2017. Christopher chairs the Marshall Commission, serves as a Non-Executive Director of SEGRO, and is a senior adviser at Penfida. He previously served as Chair of Bank of Ireland UK and President of the Council of the University of Reading. Sharmila is Chief Executive of Wilton Park, is a board member of the British Medical Journal and also of Lifesight. She previously served as Chair of the Human Tissue Authority and Director of External Affairs for the Medical Research Council.

The reappointments were made in accordance with the Code of Practice published by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
