2013 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten, so an outdoor performance of the ‘Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra’ went down well with the 400 guests. In addition to the naval uniforms of some guests, representing the naval and maritime community of the St Petersburg, the garden of the Consulate was filled with models of Sunseeker yachts (produced in Poole), giving the visitors a flavour of modern British design and technology. The original yachts were moored a little way away in the Gulf of Finland and some lucky guests got a chance to test them out the following day.
