Queen's Birthday 2013 Honours List recognises community service

Communities and Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles congratulates all those from the local government, fire, voluntary, and community sectors recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Congratulations to all those colleagues in local government, the voluntary and community sector who were recognised in this years Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

This is well deserved recognition for all their hard work, dedication and contribution to local communities across the country.

Council

  • Councillor Gary Porter, Leader, South Holland District Council and Vice Chairman Local Government Association receives a CBE for Services to Local Government

  • Councillor Geoffrey Driver, Leader, Lancashire County Council for services to Local Government, receives a CBE for Services to Local Government

  • Steve Reed, Deputy Chair man , Local Government Association receives an OBE for Services to Local Government,

  • Doreen Engall, Vice-Chair man , Humberside Fire Authority receives a MBE for services to Local Government

Community

  • Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive, Thames Valley Housing Assoication receives an OBE for services to Social Housing

  • Lesley Clarke, Chair man , Women in Local Government Association receives an OBE for services to Local Government

  • Dorab Mistry Vice-Chair man , Inter-Faith Network UK receives an OBE

  • Keith Stringer, Station Manager, Helston Fire Station, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service receives a MBE for Services to the Community and to Young People in Cornwall

  • Krishnan Attri, Volunteer Leader, Newcastle Hindu Temple receives a MBE for services to Inter-Faith Relations in the North East of England

Fire

  • Rita Dexter, Director of Corporate Services, London Fire Brigade receives an OBE for Services to Local Government and to the Fire and Rescue Service in London

  • Clive Williams Station Manager, St Just Fire Station, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service a MBE for Services to the Fire and Rescue Service and to the local community

  • Robert Morris, Watch Commander, Redditch Fire Station receives a BEM for Services to the community in Worcestershire
