Welcoming guests at the beginning of the reception, Her Majesty’s Ambassador Robin Ord-Smith spoke about the UK’s work with Tajikistan, and acknowledged that the bilateral relationship between the two countries has deepened over the last year.

Tajik Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamrokhon Zarifi also spoke at the event. He highlighted the signing of a Reverse Transit Agreement for British equipment through and over the territory of Tajikistan from Afghanistan as a milestone in the bilateral relationship. The Minister also spoke positively of the first ever UK trade mission to Tajikistan which took place earlier in the year, as well as three further agreements to be signed in the coming months.

The Queen’s Birthday Party is held every year. As well as being a chance for British guests to celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty The Queen, the Party is also an opportunity for the British Embassy to express its thanks to all of the key partners and organisations working with the Embassy in Tajikistan.
