On 27 and 28 October, Sue Hewer UK Scholarships Officer in Southern Africa, visited Lesotho to promote the UK’s Chevening Scholarship Programme. The Lesotho Manpower Secretariat hosted a Workshop for people interested in applying for the scholarship, which is fully funded for a 1 year Masters course in any subject, at any UK university.

Sue did interviews with the Lesotho Times newspaper. Along with Lineo Tsikoane - an ex Chevening scholar - Sue was interviewed live on air by Lesotho Radio stations Harvest FM and Ultimate FM, as well as for Lesotho TV news. Lineo was also on Lesotho’s breakfast TV show to promote the benefits of scholarships to scholars, as well as Lesotho and the UK.

This year there is increased funding for more scholarships, tripling the number for South Africa and for Lesotho and Swaziland there will be up to 6 each. We appreciate there are challenges such as access to the internet and English language tests for scholars from some countries like Lesotho and Swaziland. This is a good time to apply and the deadline to submit your application online is 15 November 2014.
