Prime Minister's phone call with German Chancellor Angela Merkel

David Cameron congratulated Chancellor Angela Merkel on the result of Germany's recent elections.

A Downing street spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister has spoken to Chancellor Angela Merkel to congratulate her on the result of the German federal elections. The Prime Minister said this was an historic result for Chancellor Merkel and her party. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation between Germany and the UK and said that they looked forward to seeing each other at the October European Council.
