Royal Charter

Asked for an update on the Royal Charter, the PMS said, that subject to any decision the court might take, there was no change to the current timetable. As with all Privy Council meetings, the details would be published shortly after.

Asked if the Prime Minister was concerned about opposition from the industry, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had answered this question a number of times and his view had not changed. The press is in the process of establishing an independent self-regulator and progress was welcomed by the government.
