On 7 November, the Prime Minister David Cameron met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati, their first meeting.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated Prime Minister Miqati on his success in forming a Government and said that the United Kingdom and Lebanon were close partners in support of a stable, independent and sovereign Lebanon.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and for Lebanon fulfilling its obligations to the United Nations Special Tribunal. Both leaders then discussed developments in the region and areas of cooperation between the two governments, in particular support to the Lebanese Armed Forces and business opportunities.

The two leaders agreed to develop this close cooperation further.
