PM meets President Hadi of Yemen

The two leaders agreed that the UK and Yemen would continue to work closely together to tackle the threat of terrorism in Yemen.

The Prime Minister today welcomed President Hadi of Yemen to Downing Street.

A Downing Street spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister today welcomed President Hadi of Yemen to Downing Street, where they had a constructive conversation about the ongoing transition in Yemen.

The Prime Minister and the President discussed the ongoing support that the UK is providing Yemen on political, economic and security reform.

The two men agreed that the UK and Yemen would continue to work closely together to tackle the threat of terrorism in Yemen. The Prime Minister committed to continue to support the Yemeni Government’s ongoing counter terrorism efforts to help improve the security situation in the country.

The President said he was keen to build upon the existing relationship between the two countries by developing trade links. The Prime Minister welcomed this offer and said he hoped that a number of UK companies would explore opportunities to bolster trade links with Yemen.
